Star Child
DSB: Hey MC aka StarChild. This is
a different kind of interview for us
considering our history so briefly
introduce who StarChild is.
StarChild: I got the name StarChild
from my younger brother who
Flawliss who is also a rapper
(www.
myspace.com/brandnewflawliss).
This was before I started making
music myself.  While most of my
fam was involved in the music
industry, I was busy playing sports.
Just so happens that I was pretty
much a child star in athletics so it
was natural that I was named
StarChild.  As I grew up and
became more into the music
business I decided to keep the
name.

DSB: Now being the fact that you
are a professional basketball
player, which is the person
I know, was music a secret passion
you had and how did you get
involved with it?
StarChild: I actually started making
music when I was playing basketball in France.  Most people have a lot to say about ballers who become rappers.  I
would like to say that I am a musician first and then a rapper.  I am working on my 1st album titled “Project Hustle”
which the title alone tells a story.  I plan to provide various audiences from different parts of the world music they can
enjoy while still keeping my style.  Imma put other musicians on some real game because nobody has done it like
this and I'm really living it.

DSB: Musically, who would you say is your influence?
StarChild: My main influencer is Flawliss.  I grew up listening to West and East coast music.  Always been a fan of
artist like Cube, Snoop and of course Pac.  I remember my cousin bangin some Wu Tang is his car and I was feeling
it.  That's when I got introduced to cats like Method Man, Red Man, Dirty and Biggie soon after.  After I came to
Europe, I was impressed with some of the creative musicians, I began to apply different aspects to my style.

DSB: Are you more passionate about basketball or music?
StarChild: I'm passionate about life in general.  People shouldn't deny themselves the simple pleasures in life.
There is something about competing on the court that made me have a passion for it just as in music.  When I play
ball, my game  reflects my personality off the court.  When I make music, my style is a representation of my life
outside the studio walls.  Allowing myself to be creative is where I get this passion.

DSB: Now currently you are mostly marketed in Europe.  How are they reacting to the StarChild?
StarChild: The people are definitely feeling StarChild.  Energy is the most important.  People here in Europe don't
give a dam about who the artist is unless that artist is real.  They can see right through the fake and will not support
me or any other artist if we don't keep it all the way one hundred.    I am currently doing collaborations with some of
Europe's hottest as well as up n coming artist.  I chose certain markets like Germany, Austria, Italy and Poland to
start off before I transition more into the more mainstream markets like UK and France, although Germany and
Austria are  idea markets to begin.

DSB: How does their vibe differ from Americans?
StarChild: I don't think their vibe is different from Americans especially since most of the mainstream music comes
from America and UK, especially in Hip Hop.  I am working on a song as we speak with an American artist who I know
will adjust well to this European market.

DSB:
What genre would you categorize your music?
StarChild: I would describe my music as cross-over hip hop.  I am crossing over my style with music from around the
world.  So many different sounds from all over the world means that I have to meet those demands on record.  For
me it is a challenge and for the people it is perfect.  The artist and producers that I work here with in Europe all have
the same vision.  I work with a producer name Uwe Felchle from Germany.  I never saw a person who loved music as
much as he.  We thought it would be nice to influence the game a little.

DSB: Which artist have you been able to make great music with?
StarChild: I'm working with some hot artist here in Europe, and they all have different backgrounds.  Prince Zeka is a
singer who is originally from Congo but now living in Vienna.  I am featured on two of his songs that will be released
on his upcoming able, and we have plans to do more.  The single is titled “Give You My World” will be released soon
mainly in the UK where he has a strong fan base.  I am also working with some rappers out of Poland who goes by
Pol Na Pol Style.  We wrapped up a club banger that is already on the top music charts in Polish radio play.  Can be
heard on Fama Radio which is an internet based station.  Other artist include, Johnny Drastic, Flawliss, Kara
Kennington, Sivan, my boy Nejc from Slovenia and hopefully will do something with this Super talent from Austria
who goes by the name Sweet Susi.  I'm looking forward to doing music with more popular musicians from Europe as
we continue to flood the markets.

DSB: Is there any particular artist you have on your list to collaborate with?
StarChild: There are two artist right now who I know would fit my style and what I'm trying to do here in Europe.  I
would like to have Drake or Trey Songz on a track.  Would be nice to collaborate with both.  I also think Kanye  is
killin the European market.  If I can do a track with Snoop these people will love it.

DSB:
How can we hear your music in the states?
StarChild: Most of the music will be released here in Europe.  I would like to use Dastreetbuz.com as one way for the
music to be heard along with other mainstream music filters.  Once the music is released our people will be reaching
out to possibly further the success of the music.  Some of my music is played on Internet Radio as we speak so log
on to sites like http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/ and Radio Fama in Poland.  Listen for StarChild.

DSB: Have you done any live performances and if so how were they?
StarChild: So far I have done three live performances.  I like to call them practice.  They we're good but I'm really
looking for better.  I saw JadaKiss live and saw how much energy was in the building.  Something like that would fit
me well.

DSB: Are you currently signed to any labels?
StarChild: I am all independent.  The music process here in Europe is much different than in the states.  Artist need
to create a fan base, do shows and grind their way to the top.  Utimately I will create my own label and push music
that the world can enjoy.  Until I find a label that fits my needs, I will continue to do it my way.

DSB: If you had to make a decision on picking a career which would it be, hoopin’ or spittin’?
StarChild: We'll right now I am doing both.  Hoopin has always been my first love but now I'm thinking about my
career after basketball.  Basketball is the reason why I was able to come to Europe and jump this all off so I'm just
taking advantage of every opportunity.

DSB: What does 2010 look like for the StarChild?
StarChild: 2010 is looking real nice.  I have all the players in place and ready to make this happen.  Aint nobody
tryin to be famous, we just doing what we like to do.  I plan to put people on game with this music like I said before.  I
am living an extraordinary life and been through a lot.

DSB:
Where can our readers stay informed on you?
StarChild: Just tell the readers to keep their eyes open and look out for StarChild music.  Tell them to look out for
Markus Carr because they might just see me setting off a major Sports Company called Add Player or special club
and other events in their area.  I recently had an article in the SLAM Magazine about what I do out here.  Music is a
passion of mine but at the same time, I have many passions.

DSB: Any final words or shout outs?
StarChild:  What up Flawliss (cali), Spinz (cali), Sivan (isreal), kara (miami), Uwe (Germany), SLAM Magazine, Mike
Sampson (musicweknow.org), Johnny Drastic (vienna), Zeka (congo), Pol Na Pol Style (poland), Sweet Susi
