There are artists in the game right now with no potential and
tons of exposure and radio play. Unfortunately , Revenue is
isnt one of those lucky few. I tracked this artist down myself
and spoke to him and got into the mind of this raw, but
cultured talent and I asked him about his career, life, and
goals.
DSB: Where do you hail from ??
Revenue: I'm originally from N.O but I moved with mom when
she relocated to California. My mom was in a group signed to
Atlantic Records called Madam X .
DSB: Well how did you get out here ?
Revenue: Well after I had moved to LA I had been coming
out here back and forth working on my music. And it looks like
Vegas is the place to be.
DSB: How Long you been rhyming ??
Ravenue: Well I had been rhyming since 7th Grade but
never took it seriously. I had been rhymin for a while until my
mom passed away and then I stepped away from the mic for a
couple of years to not only to get my head straight but to
focus on what was important. Since my mom passed I had a
lot of motivation and I also have been having more
experiences and I guess at this point I got my groove back.
DSB: You talk about the life of pimping and " sending her out
there ". It seems to be too real. Do you do this for the
Revenue: I'm no fake, my dude - I do this for real. The pimping you hear about on this album is real and I'm not saying what I do
to brag or boast but what I record is the truth.
DSB: What is exactly your message ??
Revenue: Well my message is like a news broadcast and through it I'm showing how to turn a negative into a positive. The Music
that i'm giving you is a hundred percent and Im sincere and everything I'm giving you is as real as it gets. I just want kids and folks
coming up what I went through and just tell the story as real as it gets.
DSB: Now lets get down to your career and how did motivation help you?
Revenue: Well I have a couple of stories I would like to share. Back in 2002, I wasnt very serious about rapping until I made this
song and the name of it "Up In the Club Tonight" back then 50 Cent had "In the Club" . My single made it all the way to # 3 on the
charts.
DSB: So what happened then ? Did anybody really take notice?
Revenue: Nope, wouldn't even give me a second look. I approached lots of Dj's and radio stations and i was being told that my
single was too close to 50's Up in the Club, so they wouldn't play it. They said 50 is hot and he is what they are pushin right now.
DSB: Wow, So im sure that got you motivated and that would have motivated me also. I dont know how I would have been able to
cope after that lol. What else triggered the motivation in you ??
Revenue: Well recently recording at the Palms, I was in the studio with Crooked I recording a new track and there was this wall ,
and this particular wall had many famous singers and artists that have recorded there. So myself and Crooked I we signed our
name on the wall, and when we came back like a week later then it had been scrubbed off. Then we were told that you had to be
platinum or better to get on the wall. I was like what the fu...
DSB: Well that would fuel my fire definitely, Lets talk about the album and what we are in store for. Who is going to be on it ?? I
see you got Bun B and E-40 on the DJ Drama Mixtape , any suprises for the album ?
Revenue: Look for it soon - my guest list includes appearances from Crooked I , Too Short, Devin The Dude and Scarface. The
Name of the album is called By Any Means Necessary.
DSB: I'm looking forward to that, and then some from you Rev Hef. Where can you be reached or where can they find your music
?Revenue: I can be reached via MySpace - www.myspace.com/revhef and I will have updates there and Stack -a Grip - at
702-785-8816
DSB: Thanks Revenue for this interview and we will be looking out for more from you soon.
