Rasheeda
DSB: Rasheeda its an honor to have
this interview. I just want you to let the
people know a lil bit about who you
are and where you are from?
Rasheeda: Thanks for having me,
Well my name is Rasheeda and I
represent the ATL I been doing my
thang in Hip-Hop for a good lil minute..
LOL and getting ready to release my
5th album “ Certified Hot Chick” so
that tells you I been putting in work!!!
DSB: Now I remember the first time i
heard Make it Hot off your album Dirty
South in 2001. What made you colab
with the unknown Akon?
Rasheeda: Akon is someone I have
known for years he has always been
talented and someone I work well with its not about him being known or unknown we had fun making music together
(But of course he has become an huge celebrity) I have worked with Akon on all my previous 4 releases. We are
still very cool.
DSB: I know you were on Motown and after that album you and Motown went your separate ways. How did that
affect you as a person?
Rasheeda: It made me stronger. I learned a lot from that situation and made some great relationships in the
process. A lot of times your first major deal isn’t what it’s cracked up to be and that’s how it was I don’t think Motown
was ready for me at that time. We left them with no hard feelings attached. It made me and my indie label D-LO
grind even harder.
DSB: As a female I have always enjoyed your music. On A Ghetto Dream You Got Me Fu**ed Up was our anthem. I
also was a fan of Lets Get to It. What made you colab with Pastor Troy as much as you did on your projects?
Rasheeda: Well thanks I’m glad you like that song! As far as Troy is concerned again we worked well together. He
DSB: How has being Independent been for you as far as being with a major
label?
Rasheeda: I love being independent and honestly I have no intentions on
going back with a major label especially now with where music is going I think
being on a major now a days is a mistake. The label I’m on D-LO
Entertainment is a 100% indie label who owes there masters and has so
much going on and so many opportunities out there now with the way the
internet is taking over as a indie if you own your music this is the prime time
to start making that real money. I could be in a better place.
DSB: Being a female in the industry what are some things you face as far as
sexism and discrimination. Do you sometimes feel you have something to
prove or have you pasted that point?
Rasheeda: In this industry you are always having to prove yourself and
being a female makes it even more difficult. I deal with a lot whether its “Oh
that too sexy” or “Oh that’s too hard” or why don’t you just take off your
clothes. Its crazy cuz men can say what ever they want on a record but
women, ME, I deal with some sort of slack no matter what but It has not
stopped me I have been growing, my fan base has been growing so much
over the years that I refuse to let that hinder me from accomplishing me
goals. Cuz bottom line that’s just how the ball bounces either play the game
or sit on the bench.
DSB: What's next for You? I know the Album is being released on August
18th. Can we expect any super features this time?
Rasheeda: Yes it is dropping August 18th its titled “Certified Hot Chick” and
the features so far are: Kandi (formally of Xscape), Shawnna, Cherish &
Diamond (formally of CrimeMob).
DSB: What is it that you want to accomplish with your music? What
statements do you tend to make with this album?
Rasheeda: This album definitely shows versatility, diversity and is good
music with substance. I want people to walk away saying “She said a lot of
things I wanted to say, Rasheeda keeps it 100 on this album” My main goal
is to do music people enjoy and when they have different situations they are
going thru they can play one of my songs and it will help them thru whatever

was on the very 1st single I dropeed “Do It” and it became a crunk classic and we just continued to work together and make good music.
DSB: Some people may not know but you are a vet with major respect in the game. In the past you have had BANGERS with artist like
Birdman, Nate Dogg, Jazzy Pha, Of course Pastor Troy Akon and The Dream. How do you continue to put out so many bangers on every
album and yet still bring heat?
Rasheeda: I have never worked with Nate Dog but I have with all the others you listed and more. My answer to that question is I’m a hungry
artist. I have so much to accomplish and I have to stay motivated and hungry and most of all I have to deliver good music so I work hard at it.
DSB: Where can people find your music past , present and future?
Rasheeda: All my music is available online at Itunes, Rhapsody & Amazon the new album will be in all those places and any other place you
get your music and in- stores as well.
DSB: Any Last words?
