YOUNG MOE: I'm Young Moe. My pops (RIP) was Moe, and at 15
or so I started going by Young Moe, right before he passed.
That's how people know me, that's always been me. As far as
"Moeses Soulright The 2nd" that came about fucking with my
Samoan potnas (shout out to Family Tyz and Skee) and we used
to be up in the studio just fucking around, drinking, smoking what
not, recording all kinds of shit. I started fucking around doing
these drunk ass singing hooks, and they were coming out
HARD!!! So I said that's my alter-ego "Moeses Soulright The 2
nd", and the homies started calling me "Brotha Soulright". One
day my big homie Baytastik sat me down and said, "Young Moe,
that don't suit you no more." And I felt that, I'm not the street cat I
used to be, I've moved on with my life, I'm trying to do right. So it
just came down to Soulright.
DSB: Where you from? What city you reppin?
YOUNG MOE: I'm from the city and the trench. Bruno and Hayes
Valley.
DSB: What are you currently working on?
YOUNG MOE: We just finished up the mixtape. Moeses Soulright
the 2nd presents "The G-eek Unit" The mixtape spans about 3
years worth of music, over 20 songs deep. It features my city boy
squad The Scolione's Skeenilly Alfamega and Sinnaman The
Unseen. Them dope ass samoans Family Tyz, K'leone and Sik
outta Sunnydale. My brotha man Dez Real, Young Cotton, Young
Rebz outta Richmond, my uso potna from the trench Rudy, and
my family M-Dash and Baytastik. That'll be at you soon. I promise.

YOUNG MOE: I've been down with PB for a minute. Dash and Baytastik always shoed me love and looked out for
was dope as fuck. A lot of cats are scared to get outdone on a track, and that's not from my mouth, that's other
rappers/producers in the game telling me that's why I wasn't getting on. So my big brush snatched me up two years
ago and been riding for me since.
DSB: What would make your tracks different from others?
YOUNG MOE: First off, I'm one of the dopest rap artists to ever hit the scene. I'm your favorite rappers favorite
rapper. Every industry cat that's heard me, has publicly stated I'm the nicest dude in the game without an album. I'm
a lyricist and a realist at the same time. There's not many artists with the street knowledge AND knowledge of self.
It's either butterflies and sunshine or Ak's and elbows. I can tell you about the streets, but I'll give it to you the real
way. Humility is a thing of the past. Being humble ain't got me shit but an empty stomach and a headache. I'm never
gonna be cocky and down the next man, but I will let you know I'm special with this shit. This is hard work, I'm doing
over time right now, so I'm collecting my time and a half.
DSB: How long you been in the game?
YOUNG MOE: Man, I've been rapping since I was six. It got serious right before my father passed when I was almost
16. I'm deep in hip hop, this ain't a game to me. This is life.
And in these years, I've learned the rap game will eat you up and spit you out. Fads are forgotten and so are you.
All you can do is stay timeless. Classics are classics the moment they're heard. Like B-12 said, if you want to make
money open a laundry mat, cus rap music probably won't do it.
DSB: Thanks for jumping on this interview, Any last words you would like to leave our readers with?
YOUNG MOE: Yeah. I just want to tell people to take the pain and use it. Embrace the hardships and struggle. The
worst thing in my life that happened was when my father died right before my 16th birthday. It also blessed me with
my most precious gift in this world, my artform. Before that I rapped, after that I painted pictures. I don't rap words
anymore, these are pictures. Taking care of my dying mother turned me into a man. I've experienced more in twenty
five years then most adults. I'm their elder now. My big homie Skee told me those battle wounds led to War Paint. No
man is above me now. Take pride in your pain and struggle, and nobody can stop you.
