Klazziq
DSB: Thanks for granted
this interview. Fill our
readers in on who you are
and where your reppin’.
Klazziq: Well I’m what you
call a traveling man. I was
born in New Orleans, LA
aka the chopper city. I
moved out to Cali when I
was 11.
DSB: How long have you
been rapping?
Klazziq: Since my Jr. High
School days. I didn’t get
serious with music until
after I graduated high
school though, going
strong since 98.
DSB: Now was it hard for
you to transition yourself
from a basketball player
to a rapper?

Klazziq: Not really, I think going to the NBA was every young man’s dream at some point, I mainly played sports in
school because all my friends played and it was an easy way to attract the ladies. Music was always my first love
even if I wasn’t rapping I would be involved in music in some way shape, form or fashion.
DSB: Tell us how you linked up with Dahliam (formerly of OTP)?
Klazziq: Me and Dahliam use to go to the same junior college plus we played against each other in high school.
The funny thing is I never knew that he was doing his music thing until I bumped into him at a mutual acquaintance
house. I had a note book full of songs and he had computer full of beats and the rest is history.
DSB: How did this experience help your career?
Klazziq: In more ways than one. When me and Dahliam get together in the lab it’s like a big party. Nothing is
forced. He knows what I’m thinking and vice versa. We don’t really have a set formula we just do what feels right at
the moment. Did I mention that my homie is a triple threat? Dude can sing, rap, and man the boards…… as far as
production goes he pretty much knows my steeze I usually get what I want without telling him what I want.. I guess if
isn’t broke don’t try to fix it right???
DSB: What makes you stand out in the crowd of rappers?
Klazziq: First and for most I’m not trying to be the next jay-z, snoop, 2pac, (no disrespect to the legends) or nothing
like that. I want to be the first Klazziq. My goal is to make quality music that reflects the views of today’s society. I’m
far from rich so in other words, me rapping about a billion dollar swag would be plain stupid.
DSB: How would you say your music has evolved from when you first started rapping til now?
Klazziq: When I first started recording music I was on some follow the leader type ish.. I thought if it wasn’t street it
wasn’t going to get any play…. But on the flipside of things not everybody’s from the streets. Nobody can diss or
knock me for being me. However you can question my character if I pretend to be something I’m clearly not. Don’t
get me wrong I did my fair share of messing up, but I’m not concerned with building a street creed. A good buzz?
(Hell yeah!!!!) I want to earn the respect of my musical peer’s for handling my business in the booth but as far as
being a hood star I’ll leave that to the youngsters.
DSB: Are you currently working on any projects?
Klazziq: I’m currently promoting my debut LP “Up close and Personal”(download your “free” copy@datpiff.com or
myspace.com/klazziq) also I’m working on my follow up LP entitled “Man Vs Self Vol 2.” Plus Dahliam and I are
cooking up a group project. I’m trying to get my gigs up. No buzz, no show!!!!
