DSB: Wassup G dot Q! Thanks for blessin’ us with this
interview. Introduce yourself to all our readers.
G dot Q: What’s good, it’s ur boy. Trust me it’s my pleasure
and I really appreciate the opportunity.
DSB: Let us know what city you’re reppin’?
G dot Q: Well, I was born in Atlanta and raised on the
Southside, College Park.
DSB: Describe your style of music?
G dot Q: My style is more r&bish/rap. Secretly, I wish I could
sing. So I try and do a lil of that on some of my hooks, but I’ll
leave that to those out there that really can sing.
DSB: Who would you compare yourself to, lyrically?
G dot Q: Lyrically speaking, I would have to say I’m just me.
There is no one that I think I could really compare myself to.
However, I have been told that I give off a LL type of vibe,
which is a huge compliment to me because I think he’s one of
the best ever. Though, I wouldn’t quite put myself up there
with the G.O.A.T just yet haha.
DSB: Tell us who has been your biggest influence.
G dot Q: Well, my favorite artist of all time is the one and
only, late, great Tupac. Of course, we all know his music was
hot, well respected, and ahead of his time. However, to me,
it is all of the things he accomplished on the big screen, small screen and through his poetry that speaks volumes of the true
talent he really was.
DSB: What makes you different from other artists?
G dot Q: Well, I‘m from the south and there is a certain style associated to southern artists. I’m the complete opposite of that.
Additionally, I am a laid back, easy going person, and this is translated into my music.
DSB: When did you get started?
G dot Q: To be honest with you, I actually started writing music out of boredom. It was something I never thought of doing but I
began saying some of the lyrics for people I was cool with and dropping a line for other artists, when it hit me that maybe this
was something I really could do full time. I began writing and recording and it became addictive. I usually write 4 songs a week
or at least a verse or two a day. I guess I can say that I really started to take music seriously when I began recording in August
of 2006.
DSB: How has your music evolved from when you first started?
G dot Q: Hahaha, man I have to admit when I first started recording I was pretty whack. Looking back and listening to some of
my older songs, I think I always had the writing part down but my voice never quite recorded the way I had it arranged in my
head. It wasn’t until about 2007 when I really learned how to record.
DSB: Are there any hidden talents you want to fill us in on?
G dot Q: So many, haha, but we’ll concentrate on the acting and sports. I look forward to my success in the acting arena as
well. I’ve done a few short films and a few independent films. I also had a role as an extra in Tyler Perry’s A Family that Prey’s,
which is expected to be released this Fall. As far as sports go, I played college football at Savannah State University in
Savannah, GA. After college, I went on to play semi-pro ball and eventually signed with an arena football team as well.
DSB: Do you have any albums or shows in the near future?
G dot Q: I finished my debut album, Sexual Intentions, which is every bit of its name. It’s a sexy, sizzling, put it on with your lady
and enjoy kind of album. I made it with the intention of seduction and I feel that it serves that purpose. Currently, I am working
to build my catalog and colabs, so any artist out there that wants to work can get at me. I am also working on my follow up
album which is titled, Mixed Emotions.
DSB: Any last word for our readers, like where they can hear your music?
G dot Q: Yeah, I would like to tell everyone reading this to follow your heart and dreams. If there is something that you want or
dream of doing, go after it. Don’t let anything or anyone stand in your way. Too often, we want something but stop pursuing it
and give up way too soon. Don’t let the hard work or the fear of being rejected stop you from trying. If you want something, you
have to go after it. I can promise you that it will not be easy, but it will be well worth it knowing that you set a goal and did all that
you could to accomplish it. Achievement of that goal will be well worth the hard work and dedication.

until next time . . . . holla.
