Born Divine
DSB: Wassup Born Divine. Put our readers up on
game as to who you are.
Born Divine: I’m the young God out of BMore city,
reaching and teaching the streets. Baptized in
both Fire & Water! You know!

DSB: Ok (giggling) How did you get started in the
game?
Born Divine: Well I hooked up with Cappadonna
from the Wu-Tang Clan and we built on the facts.
Then he took me on tour to tell the streets that I’m
back cuz I had stop spittin for a while.

DSB: What made you stop spittin’?
Born Divine: I was tired of the local thing. It was
doing nothing for my career in Baltimore, so I fell
back. Rap wasn’t payin’ the bills.

DSB: What song has been your biggest hit to
date?
Born Divine: Well it’s a song on “The Cappatilize
Project “that Cappa dropped in 08 that I’ve been
getting a lot of love on called “Gotta Find A Way”.
Here in BMore, “Daddy Never” has hit the streets
real hard cuz I’m saying what a lot of fathers that
love their children don’t get to say cuz they be on
the grind and the mothers try to act like they don’t
care about the babies! Word… and that aint the
case!

DSB: Give me one word that would best describe
you and your music.
Born Divine: REAL!!
DSB: Tell us about your experience on the “Rock the Bells” tour.
Born Divine: It was great. I got to see firsthand how the legends do it live, so that was like a dream come true. I use
to listen to Wu Tang and Nas through a lot of ups and downs, from the streets to the cell and back. They helped
bring me through those times with their music, so to be there with them was enlightening and inspiring.

DSB: How was it working with Wu-Tang Clan?
Born Divine: It was hard because they’re a family and I got love but I was still looked at as an outsider a lot of times
even though I came with love and respect. It was a learning process as well because everybody in the Clan is REAL,
yet they are all different.

DSB: What was one of the craziest things you saw or experienced on the tour?
Born Divine: Well there was this chick backstage and I tried to sell her a CD. She was like, I’m here to see METH and
she was fly as shit. So I was like damn that Mutha Fuckin’ Meth!!! So this chick tried to use me to get a name for
herself with meth. That shit didn’t work! So Meth shut her ass down, now hopefully Meth and I are going to do a
song about women like her. I’m waiting for Meth to let me know when we are going to teach on that for the dumb,
deaf, and blind. Groupies be on that shit!!!

DSB: Yeah that would be HOTT. You hear that groupies. They’re making a special dedication to you! (LOL) What
city did you enjoy performing in the most? Which one gave the most love?
Born Divine: New Mexico was crazy. They give it up LIVE!!!

DSB: We are fresh into 2009. What should our readers be checking for when it comes to Born Divine?
Born Divine: I got a new solo project I’m dropping called “Born in the Game” ft my godfather “Little Melvin” Williams,
Baltimore’s American Gangsta for those who saw him on BET and “The Wire”. I’m the only one in the city with him on
their joint besides my god sister, his daughter, Angel London. She is hot on the singing tip. Her album is coming
soon and my godfather has a book on his life coming along with the movie. I might be in the movie. You never know!
So you’re going to be seeing me around doing my thing!

DSB: That’s great. I could be talking to the next Denzel right now.  Name a few of the artist/producers you have had
the privilege of working with?
Born Divine: Well Cappadonna as you know, Killa Priest, Chi King, Rachett Rush, Ty Nitty (IM3), and all my
producers are in house, Marshall Law out of NC, H.O.K. right here in BMore, my man D-Life, and Black Seven
Productions out DT.

DSB: Who is still on your list to check off?
Born Divine: Well like I said hopefully, Meth and I will do something, Trife Da God, and P-Sunn. I want to hook up
with some West Coast rappers and some South rappers if they down to do something. I’m down to do music with
anybody that’s about their work!

DSB: On what album(s) can we hear your music?
Born Divine: “The Cappatilize Project”, “The Transition Vol. 1”, “The Better Life Movement”, and “I-Self-Lord-and-
Master” Mix CD.

DSB: What upcoming shows and/or appearances do you have scheduled?
Born Divine: Well Feb 20th I’m going to be in CT, Cussin Larry’s with Brown Monkey Music Group and I’m working on
a tour with Cappadonna to promote his new album “Slang Prostitution”. So I’m open for shows right now!

DSB: Can you give us more insight on “The Better Life Movement”?
Born Divine: Yo, “The Better Life Movement” is about community development from the inside-out. Starting with
teaching self awareness to the youth through their own talents and showing leadership skills and how to build for
self.

DSB: Now that’s great. As you reflect on where hip hop has come from and where it is going, how would you
describe the path it is on now and the role you play?
Born Divine: Well It’s coming back to consciousness and I bring that street consciousness back with real life to back
it up and teach well learned lessons.

DSB: How can the readers stay connected with Born Divine?
Born Divine: www.TheBetterLifeMovement.com and www.myspace.com/borndivine2

DSB: Any last shout outs?
Born Divine: Praise to God, peace to my mother, my baby brother, my children, family, team, mentors and
everybody that supported me. Mad love to Cappadonna, Godz Inc, MME, War Zone Snakes, NVasion Ent., War
Path, H.O.K. Paper 1st! Cali Clive and the PortMore Empire! Good looking on the interview Stowie & DaStreetBuzz.
